Our Mission calls us to be “Engaging people in our community to achieve mental and emotional health through prevention, treatment, and advocacy.” Treatment is something we do every day and is probably what you know us best for. We know that providing treatment and advocacy in an environment that supports racial and social equity is also key to your success.

We recognize the existence of racial and social injustice in our community.  It has been allowed to exist for too long.  We must act, both as individuals and as an institution.  We must, every day, stand up for what is right, do what is right and help right our community and country.  That is why The Nord Center stands with others in our community against racial and social injustice. The Nord Center will always advocate for our clients, their families and members of our community and nation, who suffer the emotional turmoil and distress as a result.  We will continue to enhance our commitment to racial and social equity and weave it into the very fabric of the care and services we provide now and in the future.

If you are a client and are scheduled for a telephone appointment with us, please expect a call at your scheduled appointment time. Your caller ID won’t say “Nord Center” but it is us. Please answer the call!

The Coronavirus has impacted all of us and will continue to so for the foreseeable future. The Nord Center is continuing to provide behavioral health services critical to our clients and our community. In accordance with CDC and the Lorain Public Health Department, we are taking steps to protect our clients and our employees such as: Social distancing, hand washing, enhanced sanitizing schedule, aAll current and new clients will be screened with the Center for Disease Control’s questionnaire, clients’ temperatures may be measured by one of our team members and other vitals taken as needed.

The Nord Center is working diligently to ensure that we can continue to provide excellent care for you during this time of crisis. Our 24/7 crisis hotline remains fully operational at 800-888-6161.

The Nord Center’s 6140 South Broadway location remains open. We are working to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff by conducting many of our appointments remotely. Services that require an in person visit such as injections will continue to be available.

We will contact you to arrange to conduct your appointment over the phone or by telehealth if appropriate. We will contact you prior to your scheduled appointment day to set this up. (more about telehealth is below)

The Nord Center Pharmacy will remain open. Where possible we will mail out medication rather than have them picked up in person. Case Management (TBS) and Supported Employment: Beginning Thursday, 3/19 will discontinue face to face services.  Appointments will be held via the phone or video conferencing.   

Counseling: Beginning Monday 3/23, all services will be provided via phone call or video conferencing. 

Day Treatment:  The Nord Center has suspended all group and day treatment activities. Psychiatric Services: Beginning Monday 3/23, all MD and APRN services will be provided via video conference or phone calls.

Lorain County Health and Dentistry: has suspended services at the South Broadway location.  They are rescheduling all appointments to be seen at one of their other locations.  Crisis Services: will continue to operate normally.  However, visitors to our Crisis Stabilization Unit are not permitted until further notice.

Residential Services: Will continue to operate normally. Telehealth: If your counselor or other provider has asked you to download an app called LifeSize for telehealth sessions, you can download it here:  http://go.lifesize.com/ Your clinician will supply you with a unique ID # or an email with link to join the telehealth session. If you have any problems with this and need technical support, with telehealth, please call 440-204-4302
